Historic day ends with a hug on the front page

Didn't think I'd end the week on the front page of the Sydney Morning Herald hugging my great friend and independent colleague Alex Greenwich, but there we are!
Alex's determination and tireless work on the Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation has been extraordinary.
Independents, bringing major reform to the Parliament with the support of Labor, Liberal, National, Greens and Shooters (SFF) MPs. It's what happens when people work together.
Incidentally, it's worth noting that the passing of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill yesterday was the first time in history that a Bill has been passed by an Australian parliament without the support of both the Premier and Opposition leader.
