More heavy rain on the way

I know it's probably the last thing you want to hear, but we're about to get pretty wet again.
The Bureau is predicting more than 100mm of rain in the local area by the end of the week and into the weekend, starting tonight. Not good given the ground is so wet already!
Just incidentally, Bureau data shows that of the 87 days so far this year, we've had rain on 54 of them. Quite extraordinary.
The average annual rainfall in Lake Macquarie is usually around 1100mm, but in the first three months of the year we've already had 742mm in the Bureau's gauge at Cooranbong, and that's before we get this week's deluge. Worse, the Bureau is predicting a 65% chance of above-average rainfall between now and June so it's highly likely we'll record a year's worth of rain before we're halfway through 2022.
As always, please stay safe on the roads over the next few days, do not drive through floodwater or go near swollen creeks, keep an ear or an eye on the news and monitor NSW SES Lake Macquarie Unit on Facebook.
