62 NEW LOCAL CASES COVID UPDATE - 11.10am Wednesday October 20 There were 283 cases reported statewide in the past 24 hours, with 62 of those in the Hunter-New England health district, including 22 in Lake Macquarie. These new cases take the total number in the latest Hunter outbreak to 2355. Sadly, a man in his 40s from the Maitland LGA has died in Maitland Hospital with COVID-19. He had not received any doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. My condolences go out to his family and friends. OF THOSE NEW CASES IN THE HNE HEALTH DISTRICT:

24 of the total active cases are currently being cared for in hospital. 3 are currently in ICU. 51 are linked, 8 are unlinked, and 3 are still under investigation. 40 were infectious in the community. 23 were isolating while infectious. 3 are still under investigation. STATEWIDE:- 92.3% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.6% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
