¿ STATUS AND CLOSE CONTACTS: Of those new cases, 37 are linked, 19 are unlinked and 9 are still under investigation. Further, 34 were infectious in the community, while 22 were isolating while infectious and the remaining 9 are still under investigation. We still have 903 active cases in the Hunter Region.
¿ 25 local people are being cared for in hospital. Three are in ICU.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: Coles at Morisset, Apple Store at Charlestown, the Belmont vaccination hub and sites at Abermain, Cessnock, Kurri, Mount Hutton, Nulkaba, East Maitland and Gateshead are among the new exposure sites named by Hunter-New England Health overnight. More details on the new sites (including a link to the full list at NSW Health) are on my website HERE.
¿ VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR WORKERS: I've had a lot of questions from people about their vaccination status and whether or not they can head back to work on Monday. For example, can I go back to work in retail if I've only had one dose? The answer in that case is yes, but you need to have your second dose booked. What about construction workers, teachers and aged care workers? Answers to these types of questions are contained on THIS LINK.
¿ LOCKDOWN UPDATE: I want to assure everyone that Lake Macquarie people who are double vaccinated will definitely leave the current lockdown restrictions in line with the rest of NSW next Monday. The only thing that may change that is a very large outbreak - and by that I mean an outbreak of new cases which is significantly higher than we've been seeing locally over the past week. Details of that 'roadmap out of restrictions' are on my website HERE.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 608 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, another seven deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are now 978 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 190 in ICU and 94 requiring ventilators.
¿ STATEWIDE VACCINATION RATES: Across NSW, 88.5 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 67.5 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Sunday 3 October 2021.
¿ TESTING: The importance of getting tested has never been more important in the local area. Please don't be complacent. If you experience any symptoms, please get tested as soon as possible.
¿ QUESTIONS: Please see my Facebook or Website pages for answers to frequently asked questions. Service NSW also has a 24/7 hotline where people are available to answer questions. You can reach them on 13 77 88.
¿ STAY SAFE, stay vigilant, and stay home unless you absolutely have to go somewhere.
