Covid update - Tuesday

Another seven new cases were reported in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This brings the total number of cases in the local outbreak to 239.

¿ COVID UPDATE - 11.10am Tuesday September 7
¿ Another seven new cases were reported in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This brings the total number of cases in the local outbreak to 239. There are currently 109 active cases in the region.
¿ Of those new cases:
¿¿ 2 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
¿¿ 1 in Hillsborough
¿¿ Was infectious in community
¿¿ Linked to a positive household case
¿ 1 in Cooranbong
¿¿ Was isolating while infectious
¿¿ Linked to a close contact
¿¿ 2 are from Port Stephens LGA
¿¿ 2 in Shoal Bay
¿¿ Both were infectious in community
¿ Linked to Shoal Bay cluster
¿ 1 is from Maitland LGA
¿¿ 1 in Thornton
¿ Was isolating while infectious
¿¿ Linked to a household contact
¿ 1 is from Newcastle LGA
¿¿ 1 in Elermore Vale
¿ Was infectious in community
¿¿ Unlinked. Investigations ongoing
¿ 1 is from Mid-Coast LGA
¿¿ 1 in Booral
¿ Seven local people are currently being cared for in hospital, with one of those people in ICU.
¿ There are 463 close contacts of local cases who are in isolation.
¿ The Central Coast has also recorded 22 new cases over the past 24 hours.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 1220 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, eight more deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, all in the Sydney region.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are 1151 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 192 in ICU and 75 requiring ventilators.
¿ There have been 139 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 195 in total since the start of the pandemic. There have been 30,456 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: HNE Health has named a number of new exposure sites in the past 24 hours. Just the one in Lake Macquarie (Whitebridge), but other sites include Raymond Terrace, Medowie, Salt Ash and Singleton. More details are on my website here.
¿ TESTING: Testing numbers in the local area remain low and are a concern. Please get tested if you experience the mildest of symptoms, particularly if you've been near any of the exposure locations.
