¿ COVID UPDATE - Sunday August 29 ¿
¿ There were seven new cases in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This brings the total number of cases in the local outbreak to 179.
¿ Of those new cases:
- 2 are from Maitland LGA (Thornton, infectious in the community and linked to a known cluster)
- 2 are from Newcastle LGA (Birmingham Gardens and Adamstown Heights (Infectious in the community, Source under investigation)
- 1 is from Cessnock LGA (Cessnock, Infectious in the community, Source under investigation)
- 2 are from Port Stephens LGA (Raymond Terrace, both infectious in the community, Linked to a known cluster)
PLEASE NOTE: Following extensive investigation and repeated testing a Kurri Kurri case previously reported has now been excluded.
¿ 7 people are currently being cared for in hospital locally with COVID-19. No patients are in ICU.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 1218 new cases recorded throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Another six deaths were recorded in Sydney overnight.
¿ There have been 89 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 145 in total since the start of the pandemic. There have been 18,792 locally acquired cases reported statewide since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are 813 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 126 in ICU and 54 on ventilators.
¿ POP-UP TESTING CLINIC: HNE Health is running a pop-up testing clinic at Windale today from 8am to 4pm. It's located at 'The Purple House' on the corner of South and Lake streets at Windale.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: No new exposure sites in Lake Macquarie over the past 24 hours, but there were three in the Thornton/Maitland area. NSW Health sends a text message to people who have checked in at close contact venues with further information.
