NSW Health reports there were three new cases in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This brings the total number of cases in

¿ COVID UPDATE - SATURDAY August 28 ¿
¿ NSW Health reports there were three new cases in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This brings the total number of cases in the local outbreak to 173.
¿ Of those new cases:
- 2 are from Maitland LGA and the source of their infection is under investigation (same household at Thornton, both infectious in the community)
- 1 is from Newcastle LGA and is linked to the Costco cluster (North Lambton, not infectious in the community)
¿ 8 people are currently in hospital locally with COVID-19, and one of them is in ICU.
¿ The local region now has 632 close contacts who are in isolation.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 1035 new cases recorded throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, two more deaths were recorded in Sydney overnight.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are 778 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 125 in ICU and 52 on ventilators.
¿ POP-UP TESTING CLINIC: HNE Health is running a pop-up testing clinic at Windale today and tomorrow from 8am to 4pm. It's located at 'The Purple House' on the corner of South and Lake streets at Windale.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: No new local exposure sites in the past 24 hours to report. NSW Health sends a text message to people who have checked in at close contact venues with further information. They also make a follow-up call to close contacts to discuss the isolation and testing requirements. If you have not received a text message, please call 1800 943 553.
¿ WEDDINGS: The Government has today announced that weddings will be allowed to go ahead from September 3, but guests will be limited to five, in addition to the bridal party, celebrant and photographer.
