?? NEW MASTERPLAN FOR TORONTO FORESHORE
?? Lake Macquarie council has released its new masterplan for the Toronto foreshore and I'm very happy to see that the two six-storey buildings planned for Bath St near the yacht club are officially gone and replaced with public parkland. The full plan can be seen on the link below.
?? I applaud those who fought hard to preserve this site, and in particular the Toronto Foreshore Protection Group. I also applaud the council for listening to the community's concerns, and mine, and taking them on board.
?? As you'll see on the link, the high-rise apartment plans are replaced with terraced outdoor spaces, a cafe and bike hub, similar to the plans I had drawn up last year.
?? The remainder of the foreshore between the town centre and the yacht club will still be transformed into a fantastic foreshore park and cycleway that will be preserved for current and future generations to enjoy.
?? The council is now seeking initial feedback on the masterplan, and if it's largely endorsed, will proceed to a formal public exhibition period in February. Be sure to let them know your thoughts on the latest plan by filling in the quick survey on the link.
?? The council will also be holding community drop-in sessions at the waterfront Rotunda this Thursday (3-5pm) and Saturday (10am-noon).
